Machine Operator-Extrusion

Overview

We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Extrusion Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will assist in the production of high-quality film products while monitoring quality standards, supporting production efficiency, and maintaining a safe work environment. The Extrusion Operator works closely with Production Supervisors, Process Technicians, and Maintenance personnel to ensure customer specifications, quality requirements, and production goals are consistently met.

This position offers opportunities for training, skill development, and cross-training within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and manufacturing standards.
  • Assist in operating and monitoring extrusion equipment to produce film products that meet customer specifications.
  • Perform visual inspections and quality checks on finished products.
  • Accurately enter and review production and quality data.
  • Complete required production documentation, line logs, and quality records.
  • Ensure finished products are properly labeled, packaged, and prepared for shipment.
  • Maintain adequate packaging and labeling supplies throughout the shift.
  • Support housekeeping efforts and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Assist with minor troubleshooting, preventative maintenance activities, and equipment upkeep.
  • Work closely with supervisors, maintenance, and process teams to resolve production issues.
  • Learn and perform line threading, winding procedures, core cutting, screen pack changes, and roll handling procedures.
  • Participate in safety audits, quality audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with training new employees as needed.
  • Complete required job task certifications and cross-training within established timelines.
  • Operate material handling equipment after successful completion of company certification training.

Skills and Experience

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Preferred

  • Previous manufacturing, extrusion, converting, or production experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Forklift or material handling equipment experience.
  • Experience working in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, FIFO, or continuous improvement environments.
Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, stretching, and repetitive movements.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Manual dexterity to operate equipment and complete production tasks.
  • Ability to work around moving machinery and production equipment.
