What You'll Do as a Wire Machine Operator:
- Set up, operate, and monitor wire drawing machines to produce wire to specific gauges and specifications.
- Once trained you will load steel rods and coils using overhead cranes or forklifts and thread wire through machine dies.
- Measure wire using calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools to ensure quality.
- Monitor machine speed, wire tension, and lubrication and make adjustments as needed.
- Identify and report equipment issues, quality concerns, downtime, and material usage.
- Complete production documentation and maintain accurate records.
- Keep your work area clean and organized while following all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
Skills and Experience
What You'll Bring as a Preferred Candidate:
- Previous machine operation experience in manufacturing or a heavy industrial environment strongly preferred.
- Wire drawing, metal fabrication, extrusion, or similar experience is a plus.
- Ability to use calipers and micrometers and perform basic industrial math.
- Overhead crane or forklift experience is preferred (training provided)
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
- Comfortable working in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
- Strong attendance, work ethic, and commitment to workplace safety.
