Overview
The BOBST Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining BOBST die-cutting, folder-gluer, or related converting equipment to produce high-quality packaging products. This role ensures that production meets customer specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements while minimizing downtime and waste.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate BOBST equipment (e.g., die cutters, folder-gluers, or specialty converting machines) according to job specifications.
- Read and interpret work orders, job tickets, drawings, and production schedules.
- Adjust machine settings to maintain product quality, including registration, glue patterns, cutting accuracy, and folding alignment.
- Perform quality checks throughout production to ensure conformance to customer and company standards.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and operational issues and make necessary adjustments to minimize downtime.
- Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication of equipment.
- Maintain accurate production records, including counts, waste, and downtime.
- Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and housekeeping standards.
- Communicate effectively with production supervisors, maintenance, and quality teams.
- Train or assist helper operators or trainees as needed.
- Meet or exceed production efficiency and scrap reduction goals.
Skills and Experience
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
- Prior experience operating BOBST equipment or similar converting machinery preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read measurements, blueprints, and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of paperboard, corrugated materials, adhesives, and die-cutting processes.
- Basic math skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and weekends as required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Capable of bending, reaching, and working around moving machinery.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise and dust.
