Job Summary

The Torcher is responsible for safely using a cutting torch to cut metal according to work instructions. This position helps prepare materials for production while maintaining a safe and clean work area.

Responsibilities

  • Operate an oxygen or plasma cutting torch to cut metal safely and accurately.

  • Read work orders and follow instructions.

  • Measure and cut materials to the correct size.

  • Inspect materials for quality before and after cutting.

  • Set up and maintain torch equipment.

  • Report damaged equipment or safety concerns to a supervisor.

  • Keep the work area clean and organized.

  • Move materials using carts, forklifts, or cranes if trained.

  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

  • Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) when required.

  • Work with team members to meet daily production goals.

  • Complete other assigned tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.

  • Previous experience using a cutting torch or working in manufacturing is preferred but not required.

  • Ability to read a tape measure and follow basic instructions.

  • Basic mechanical skills.

  • Reliable and dependable.

  • Able to work well with others.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand and walk for most of the shift.

  • Lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Bend, reach, and move materials throughout the day.

  • Work in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Safety

  • Follow all workplace safety rules.

  • Wear required PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and protective clothing.

  • Report unsafe conditions immediately.

  • Keep your work area clean and safe.
