Job Description
The Entry-Level Maintenance Technician supports daily warehouse operations by performing preventive maintenance and basic repairs on facility infrastructure, material handling equipment, and racking systems. This role helps sustain safe and reliable operations through inspections, troubleshooting, and timely maintenance tasks.
Facility & Equipment Maintenance (FCM)
• Conduct routine inspections and audits of warehouse equipment and facilities to identify repair needs.
• Perform preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
• Maintenance & Repair Tasks.
• Assist with maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of: Dock levelers, dock doors, and dock locks.
• Repair of racking systems and storage infrastructure.
• Plumbing systems (basic repairs).
• Floors, drywall, and paint.
• Maintenance of breakrooms floors and hallways.
• Stripping and waxing floors.
• Light concrete repairs and patching.
• Use power tools safely and effectively.
• Operate forklifts and other powered equipment required in the performance of maintenance activities.
• Read basic blueprints or technical drawings to support troubleshooting and repairs.
• Participate in training and certification programs for powered industrial vehicles; support Train-the-Trainer initiatives as needed.
• Inspect, clean, and replace filters, pads, and basic components as required, monitor performance and report issues or inefficiencies for further service, maintain maintenance logs and ensure PM schedules are followed for mini split and portable cooling units.
• Operate and monitor vertical baler equipment safely and in accordance with procedures.
• Ensure cardboard and plastic bales are produced consistently and meet sustainability standards.
• Support proper segregation of waste streams, including cardboard, plastic, and general trash.
• Perform basic inspections and preventive maintenance of baler equipment, report malfunctions or safety concerns promptly.
• Coordinate with operations to maintain clean, organized recycling and waste areas.
Skills and Experience
Required
• High school diploma or GED; vocational or technical training in maintenance or a related field preferred.
• Hands-on experience in facility or equipment maintenance (entry-level candidates with relevant training or internships considered).
Basic knowledge of:
• Plumbing, and mechanical systems.
• Racking repair and maintenance.).
• Knowledge of OSHA/NFPA/NEC regulations.
• Ability to safely operate or learn to operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and reach trucks.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Good problem-solving and logical reasoning skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while seeking guidance when needed.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
