Production Control Manager

Overview

Position Summary

The Production Control Manager is responsible for leading all production planning and material control functions to ensure efficient manufacturing operations. This position oversees master production scheduling (MPS), material requirements planning (MRP), purchasing, inventory control, logistics, and material flow while driving continuous improvement, cost reduction, and employee development. The role works closely with manufacturing, engineering, and customer teams to ensure production schedules and customer requirements are met. 

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Inventory Control

  •  Develop and maintain the master production schedule based on customer demand. 
  •  Manage MPS and MRP systems to support production requirements. 
  •  Monitor daily production performance against schedule. 
  •  Determine raw material and component requirements from engineering specifications and production schedules. 
  •  Manage inventory levels for raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods. 
  •  Plan and coordinate physical inventories. 
  •  Resolve production issues involving shortages, shipments, engineering changes, and order cancellations. 
  •  Minimize scrap and slow-moving inventory. 
  •  Ensure efficient material flow throughout the facility through effective material handling processes. 
Operations & Process Improvement

  •  Oversee purchasing, planning, logistics, and material movement. 
  •  Confirm material supply and demand to maintain uninterrupted production. 
  •  Improve plant layout and material movement efficiency. 
  •  Maintain and improve departmental standards, including FIFO, Kanban, 5S, and KPI performance. 
  •  Partner with Unipres Production Systems (UPS) to implement continuous improvement initiatives. 
  •  Develop departmental cost reduction strategies. 
Leadership & Team Management

  •  Lead and develop Production Control team members. 
  •  Foster positive employee relations and teamwork. 
  •  Oversee manpower planning to support production demands. 
  •  Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to accomplish departmental objectives. 
Safety & Compliance

  •  Enforce company safety policies and procedures. 
  •  Maintain an organized and safe work environment through 5S practices. 
  •  Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.

Skills and Experience

Education

  •  Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience. 
  •  Minimum of 5 years of experience in metal stamping operations. 
Experience

  •  Minimum of 6 years of Production Control experience. 
  •  At least 4 years in a management role within an automotive or manufacturing environment. 
  •  Previous supervisory or management experience required. 
Required Skills & Requirements

  •  Strong leadership and people management skills. 
  •  Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  •  Experience with production scheduling, inventory control, purchasing, and logistics. 
  •  Knowledge of MPS (Master Production Scheduling) and MRP (Material Requirements Planning). 
  •  Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. 
  •  Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.). 
  •  Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements. 
  •  Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. 
  •  Ability to travel as required. 
  •  Satisfactory attendance and safety record. 
Preferred Qualifications

  •  Experience with AS400 and Future 3 systems. 
  •  Experience in Lean Manufacturing, FIFO, Kanban, and 5S methodologies. 
  •  Automotive manufacturing experience. 
  •  Continuous improvement and cost reduction experience. 
Physical Requirements

  •  Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and computer use. 
  •  Frequent bending, reaching, and working independently or with others. 
  •  Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
