Overview
The Hatchery Technician is responsible for supporting all hatchery operations, including egg handling, incubation, chick processing, sanitation, vaccination, and quality control. Team members ensure the production of healthy, high-quality chicks while maintaining biosecurity, animal welfare, safety, and production standards.
Skills and Experience
- Monitor incubators and hatchers to ensure proper temperature, humidity, ventilation, and turning schedules.
- Transfer eggs between incubation and hatch stages according to production schedules.
- Assist with chick processing, counting, sorting, grading, and vaccination.
- Remove and properly dispose of unhatched eggs and culls.
- Maintain hatchery sanitation and cleanliness standards.
- Follow all biosecurity, food safety, and animal welfare procedures.
- Inspect equipment and report maintenance concerns.
- Accurately complete production records and hatch data.
- Assist with chick loading and transportation preparation.
- Support other hatchery departments as needed.
