Overview

The CNC Brake Operator is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC press brake machines to bend, form, and shape metal components according to engineering specifications. This role requires precision, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to interpret technical drawings. Key Responsibilities: Set up and operate CNC press brake machines to bend and form metal parts Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings Select appropriate tooling (dies, punches) and configure machine settings Program or adjust CNC controls for bend sequences, angles, and tolerances Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks using measuring tools (calipers, angle gauges, etc.) Ensure parts meet dimensional and quality standards Troubleshoot machine or setup issues and make necessary adjustments Perform routine maintenance and keep machines clean and in good working order Maintain accurate production records and documentation Follow all safety procedures and company policies Work with team members to meet production deadlines and efficiency targets Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred 1–3 years of CNC press brake or metal fabrication experience preferred Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics Basic knowledge of CNC programming and machine controls Strong math skills (fractions, decimals, geometry) Attention to detail and problem-solving ability Ability to work independently and as part of a team
