Overview

A Laser Cutter Operator sets up, calibrates, and runs CNC machinery to cut, engrave, or shape materials (metal, wood, plastic) based on technical blueprints. Key responsibilities include loading programs, adjusting laser parameters, performing quality inspections, and maintaining machinery to meet production schedules. 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- MACHINE OPERATION: set up and operate CNC laser machines (e.g., CO2 or fiber lasers). 
- PROGRAMMING & SETUP: Select appropriate cutting programs, adjust focal points, and set up fixtures for materials. 
- QUALITY CONTROL: Inspect finished parts for accuracy using tools like calipers and micrometers. 
- MAINTENANCE: Perform routine maintenance and cleaning on the machinery. 
- INTERPRETATION: Read and understand blueprints, schematics, and work orders. 
- MATERIAL HANDLING: Load/unload raw materials (such as metal sheets) safely. 


Skills and Experience

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- TECHNICAL SKILLS: Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g. CorelDRAW, Adobe Illustrator, Tru Tops) and G-code.
- EXPERIENCE: 2+ years of experience in CNC or laser operation. 
- MECHANICAL APTITUDE: Strong troubleshooting skills for solving machine problems. 
- DETAIL-ORIENTED: High attention to detail for precise, high-quality cutting. 

PHYSICAL AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
- Adherence to safety protocols (PPE)
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift materials. 
- Often required experience with material handling equipment like forklifts.
