Material Handler (Overhead Crane)

Overview

Responsible for the safe and efficient movement of heavy materials, electrical components, and prefabricated structures within the production facility and warehouse. This role requires switching between a forklift and an overhead crane depending on the size and weight of the load. 

Skills and Experience

Material Handling: Operate sit-down forklifts (typically electric or diesel) to load/unload trucks and move pallets of components.

Heavy Lifting: Operate overhead gantry cranes to lift and position oversized industrial electrical equipment and metal structures.

Rigging & Slings: Select and apply the correct lifting gear (chains, slings, shackles) according to the weight and center of gravity of the load.

Safety Inspections: Perform daily pre-shift checks on both the forklift and crane to ensure all safety mechanisms are functional.

Production Support: Assist the production team in positioning components on the assembly line with high precision to avoid damage to sensitive electrical parts.

Inventory Control: Document movements of materials and maintain an organized workspace in accordance with Lean Manufacturing or 5S standards.
