Overview
The Carpenter is responsible for constructing, installing, repairing, and maintaining wooden and metal structures and fixtures in an industrial setting. This role requires precision, strong technical skills, and the ability to read blueprints and specifications while working safely and efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
Skills and Experience
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and install materials such as wood, plywood, metal framing, and composite materials
- Construct and repair structures including platforms, crates, forms, shelving, partitions, and industrial fixtures
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and work orders to ensure accurate construction
- Install doors, windows, frames, flooring, cabinets, and other structural components
- Perform layout work using measuring tools to ensure proper alignment and dimensions
- Operate hand tools and power tools safely (saws, drills, nail guns, sanders, etc.)
- Perform maintenance and repairs on existing structures and equipment supports
- Ensure work meets quality standards and complies with safety regulations
- Collaborate with supervisors, maintenance teams, and other trades as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times
