Overview
The Forklift Driver is responsible for safely operating forklifts and other material-handling equipment to support receiving, shipping, warehouse, and production operations. This position ensures materials, pallets, and finished goods are moved safely, accurately, and on time while maintaining inventory accuracy and a clean, organized work environment.
Receiving Support
- Unload incoming trucks, trailers, pallets, and materials safely.
- Transport received materials from the receiving dock to designated warehouse, inspection, staging, or production areas.
- Verify pallet quantity, labels, and material condition during movement.
- Support the Receiving team with material transfers and put-away activities.
- Report damaged materials, incorrect quantities, or labeling discrepancies immediately.
- Prioritize urgent RMA or production materials when requested.
Shipping Support
- Move completed units, pallets, and finished goods from staging areas to the shipping dock.
- Load outbound trucks and trailers safely according to shipping requirements.
- Verify that the correct pallets and materials are loaded for shipment.
- Support pallet staging and organization based on shipment schedules.
- Coordinate with the Shipping team to ensure materials are available for scheduled carrier pickups.
- Assist with urgent or priority shipments as required.
Production & RMA Support
- Provide forklift support for RMA receiving and shipping activities.
- Move heavy units, racks, pallets, equipment, and materials between designated operational areas.
- Respond promptly to material-movement requests to prevent delays to receiving, repair, testing, production, or shipping.
- Maintain proper material flow and ensure items are delivered to the correct designated locations.
- Follow FIFO and other material-control requirements when applicable.
Safety & Equipment
- Perform daily forklift inspections before operating equipment.
- Operate forklifts in accordance with company safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
- Immediately report forklift damage, mechanical problems, accidents, or unsafe conditions.
- Follow pedestrian safety rules, designated forklift lanes, speed limits, and loading requirements.
- Ensure loads are properly secured and within the forklift's rated capacity.
- Maintain a valid forklift certification as required.
- Never operate equipment in an unsafe manner.
Warehouse & 5S
- Maintain clean and organized receiving, shipping, staging, and warehouse areas.
- Keep aisles, emergency exits, forklift lanes, and work areas clear.
- Return pallets, carts, and materials to their designated locations.
- Support 5S and continuous-improvement activities.
- Assist with inventory organization and physical inventory activities when required.
Skills and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Forklift certification required or ability to obtain company-approved certification.
- Previous forklift, warehouse, manufacturing, receiving, or shipping experience preferred.
- Ability to safely operate sit-down and/or stand-up forklifts as required.
- Ability to understand shipping labels, pallet identification, and basic warehouse documentation.
- Basic computer or scanner experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively with Receiving, Shipping, Warehouse, Production, and Operations teams.
- Strong attention to safety, accuracy, and material handling.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a warehouse/manufacturing environment.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and perform material-handling activities throughout the shift.
- Ability to safely handle materials within company-defined lifting requirements.
- Ability to work around forklifts, pallets, racks, trucks, and other industrial equipment.
