What You’ll Do as a Metal Fabricator / Machine Operator:
- Configure, calibrate, and run metal bending machinery and roll-forming equipment according to production schedules and blueprint specifications.
- Load raw sheet metal coils and metal components into machinery, securing materials using alignment fixtures and stops.
- Perform quality checks on completed metal parts using rulers, templates, and gauges to verify accurate dimensions and identify defects.
- Make precise adjustments to machine speeds, tooling, punches, and dies using standard hand tools to maintain product quality.
- Safely maneuver raw materials and finished door products across the shop floor using overhead cranes.
- Monitor live machine operations to prevent material jams, maintain accurate operational logs, and report scrap counts.
- Conduct regular machine maintenance, including basic lubrication, cleaning, and keeping work areas safe and organized.
Skills and Experience
What You’ll Bring as a Preferred Candidate:
- 1 to 2 years of hands-on experience setting up and operating metal fabrication or machine shop equipment.
- Ability to read work orders, production schedules, and basic technical blueprints.
- Proficiency with standard measuring tools, gauges, and manual hand tools.
- Experience operating or willingness to learn overhead crane operation.
- Solid basic math, reading, and communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Physical capacity to regularly lift up to 50 lbs and comfortable standing, bending, and walking throughout a full shift.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
