Overview
The Hole Man / Slitter Assistant is an entry-level production position that supports the Slitter Operator in processing large steel coils into smaller, finished strips. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build experience in a manufacturing environment and learn new skills while working as part of a team.
Job Duties Include:
Assist the Slitter Operator with machine setup and daily production tasks
Load and unload steel coils safely using proper procedures
Help install and remove tooling, including separator discs and spacers
Assist with preparing the machine for production runs
Monitor the production line while material is being processed
Measure slit widths using tape measures, calipers, and gauges
Band, package, and label finished steel coils
Perform quality checks to ensure products meet specifications
Maintain a clean and organized work area
Follow all safety guidelines when working around heavy equipment and moving materials
Skills and Experience
Skills & Qualifications: Manufacturing or production experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidate Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn Ability to read a tape measure Comfortable working around heavy equipment and machinery Ability to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly Strong attendance and reliability Good teamwork and communication skills Willingness to learn and grow into a Slitter Operator role Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for 10–12 hour shifts Frequent bending, stooping, and climbing Ability to perform heavy lifting throughout the shift Comfortable working in an industrial environment with changing temperatures Must wear steel-toe boots and required PPE
