Overview
An airport ground maintenance worker keeps airport fields, runways, and grounds safe and clean. They cut grass, clear trash, repair fences, and operate heavy machines. This job requires working outdoors in all weather types and following strict safety rules .
Landscaping: Mow grass, trim bushes, and remove weeds around terminals and runways.
Cleaning & Debris: Pick up trash, sweep pavement, and clear foreign objects from airfields.
Equipment Operation: Drive tractors, mowers, loaders, and large sweepers.
Repairs: Fix perimeter fences, gates, and damaged signs.
Weather Response: Clear snow, ice, or storm debris during bad weather and emergencies.
Skills and Experience
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: One to two years of general groundskeeping or manual labor.
Physical Strength: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long hours outdoors.
Safety & Security: Must pass a background check (FAA/TSA rules) and hold a valid driver's license.
