Overview
The Janitorial Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and professional work environment throughout Steel Service facilities, including offices, restrooms, breakrooms, production areas, and common spaces. This position supports daily operations by ensuring cleanliness standards are consistently met while adhering to company safety policies and procedures.
Skills and Experience
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, breakrooms, offices, conference rooms, and common areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors, furniture, and equipment.
- Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste properly.
- Replenish restroom and breakroom supplies, including paper products, soap, and cleaning materials.
- Clean windows, glass doors, mirrors, and other surfaces.
- Maintain cleanliness of entrances, walkways, and employee areas.
- Perform routine cleaning of production and warehouse support areas as assigned.
- Operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, buffers, and vacuums safely and effectively.
- Identify and report maintenance, safety, or housekeeping concerns to management.
- Follow all company safety procedures, including proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals.
- Assist with special cleaning projects and facility events as needed.
- Support housekeeping efforts during inspections and audits.
- Maintain cleaning equipment and report repair needs promptly
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous custodial, janitorial, or housekeeping experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and lifting.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to push and pull cleaning carts and equipment.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and industrial environments.
- Working Conditions
- Manufacturing, warehouse, and office environment.
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals and industrial dust.
- Required use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required.
