Overview
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine machinery maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance to support the safe and efficient operation of equipment and production systems. This role includes troubleshooting mechanical issues, replacing parts, performing adjustments, and assisting with the maintenance of both mechanical and some electronic systems. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Skills and Experience
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Reassemble machines following the completion of repair or maintenance work.
- Start machines and monitor operations to evaluate performance and identify potential issues.
- Inspect and test damaged machine parts and equipment to determine repair or replacement needs.
- Lubricate machinery, machine parts, and equipment according to maintenance schedules and procedures.
- Install, replace, and adjust machine parts and attachments based on production requirements.
- Dismantle machines and remove defective parts for repair or replacement.
- Record maintenance, repair, and production activities accurately and timely.
- Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and specifications to determine maintenance requirements.
- Set up and operate machines while adjusting controls to regulate machine functions.
- Collaborate with maintenance and production personnel to repair, move, or install equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with company policies and OSHA standards.
- Follow all safety procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a maintenance apprenticeship or technical training program preferred.
- One to two years of related mechanical maintenance experience preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of machinery, tools, and equipment maintenance.
- Basic understanding of preventative maintenance programs and repair procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders.
- Experience using email systems and preventative maintenance database software preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
