Manufacturing Engineer

Overview

The Continuous Improvement Specialist will deliver measurable productivity and efficiency gains by applying the structured methodology. This role drives operational excellence projects and creates a culture of continuous improvement. This will be achieved through project management, standardizing best practices, training, and skill development.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Drive process improvement activities to support business strategic priorities 
• Develop, lead, and implement warehouse operation projects by analyzing data, material workflow and space requirements. 
• Lead the implementation of warehouse engineering methodologies/tools such as product slotting, cycle times, capacity analysis, routings, layouts and optimization of materials flow and resource modeling to improve distribution and warehouse operations. • Effectively leverage data analytics, synthesizing and taking actionable insights from various types of raw data sources (sales, inventory, and warehouse transaction logs).
• Warehouse operations and product transfer. Design and work a plan of activities and sequences to allow the movement of operations from one point.
 • Process mapping and/or creating value streams of current-state processes and improved processes, implementing the changes and quantifying savings. 
• Process and document standardization throughout the distribution center 
• Obtain quotations and work with suppliers to acquire warehouse accessories, racks, and containers. 
• Capital and cost savings implementation projects.

Skills and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering or 4 Years of experience with continuous improvement activities. 
• Two (2) years or more related work experience in the Warehousing, distribution, or manufacturing industry. 
• Understand warehouse and distribution center operations including; shipping, receiving, material handling, labor standards (time studies), distribution layouts and optimization of materials flow and space and headcount rationalization and forecasting. 
• Disciplined individual that keeps records of studies, evidence, and standards of continuous improvement achievements. 
• Analytical skill set to calculate cost impacts, labor savings, and other financial and operational effects. 
• Strong planning, time management and collaboration skills. 
• Demonstrates troubleshooting skills and ability to find alternative solutions. • Excellent oral, written, communication and presentation skills. 
• A desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, hands-on warehousing/supply chain environment. 
• Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio. 
• Experience with Oracle and a Warehouse Management System is a plus 
• Bilingual: English – Spanish 
• Knowledge of the visual factory, material flow
