Night Shift Metal Fab Superintendent

Overview

We are currently seeking a Night Shift Metal Fabrication Superintendent for a prominent manufacturing company located in the Eclectic area. This position offers direct hire with the company, with compensation commensurate with experience.

 

The Metal Fabrication Superintendent will oversee the entire lifecycle of fabrication projects, including initial planning, blueprint interpretation, final assembly, and quality assurance. This leadership role serves as a key liaison between senior management and Supervisors, ensuring that all work is conducted safely, efficiently, and on schedule, while meeting production quotas.

 

Core Responsibilities:

- Operational Management: Oversee daily operations within the company.

- Team Leadership: Train and mentor supervisors, leads, welders, and fabricators to foster a high-performing team.

- Project Scheduling: Develop and maintain production timelines, ensuring optimal allocation of labor and materials to meet customer deadlines.

- Safety & Compliance: Enforce OSHA standards and company safety policies to promote a safe working environment with zero incidents.

- Quality Assurance: Implement and oversee quality control programs to ensure products meet engineering specifications and industry standards.

- Technical Consultation: Provide expert guidance on complex fabrication issues, including blueprint interpretation and selection of appropriate welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG) and cutting methods (e.g., CNC).

- Resource Management: Oversee equipment maintenance programs and manage raw material and parts inventory levels.

Skills and Experience

Key Skills and Qualifications:

- Blueprint Skills: Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and 3D CAD models accurately.

- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving capabilities for resolving scheduling conflicts, budget issues, and manufacturing challenges efficiently.

- Leadership: Demonstrated success in managing cross-functional teams and leading daily coordination meetings and safety walks.

- Software Proficiency: Competence in MS Office applications and experience with SAP.

- Experience: Typically requires 5 to 10+ years of proven experience in metal fabrication or industrial manufacturing, with significant supervisory responsibilities.

 

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods within manufacturing environments.

- Capable of lifting and carrying objects weighing between 50 to 75 pounds.

- Tolerance for industrial working conditions, including exposure to noise, welding fumes, and temperature variations.
