Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Shipping Clerk with experience in produce and logistics to support daily warehouse operations. This role is responsible for coordinating outgoing shipments of fresh produce, ensuring accuracy, maintaining product quality, and meeting strict shipping deadlines. The ideal candidate understands time-sensitive shipments and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Skills and Experience
- Prepare and process shipping documents including BOLs, labels, and invoices
- Verify orders for accuracy, product type, counts, and condition before shipment
- Coordinate with warehouse teams to ensure on-time loading of refrigerated trailers (reefers)
- Schedule pickups and communicate with carriers, drivers, and dispatch
- Ensure proper FIFO (First In, First Out) and correct product rotation
- Monitor shipment timelines to prevent delays or spoilage
- Track and update shipments in warehouse/shipping systems
- Maintain accurate records of orders, inventory, and shipments
- Identify and report damaged or incorrect product
- Follow food safety (GMP), HACCP, and OSHA guidelines
- Assist with inventory control and cycle counts as needed
