Overview
Looking for cold storage packers in a poultry processing plant that are responsible for packing, boxing, and staging poultry products (such as whole birds or cut parts) for freezing or shipment, operating within temperature-controlled, low-temperature environments (typically 0°C to 4°C for fresh, or below -18°C for frozen).
They are essential for maintaining the cold chain, which ensures food safety and quality by preventing microbial growth after processing
Skills and Experience
- Working in, or moving between, refrigerated areas (0°C to 4°C) and deep-freeze areas (below -18°C, often -35°C in blast freezers).
- The role involves standing for long periods, repetitive motion in packing, and lifting or moving boxes, often while wearing specialized protective clothing (e.g., insulated coats, gloves, and boots).
- Working at a high pace, often aligned with, or immediately following, automated conveyor systems, to quickly move products from the packing stage to the freezer
- Able to lift over 40-50 pound continually.
