Position Summary

The Accounting Assistant provides accounting and clerical support to the Accounting Department. This position is generally responsible for completing basic, routine accounting tasks under detailed instruction. The role assists with daily financial transactions, document management, reconciliation support, and ensuring compliance with company accounting procedures and internal controls.

Essential Functions

  • Perform routine accounting and clerical tasks with detailed instructions and supervision.
  • Provide general accounting and administrative support to the accounting department.
  • Complete routine daily entries for key financial transactions as directed.
  • File accounting documents while maintaining confidentiality and document security.
  • Assist with account reconciliations in a timely manner.
  • Assist with verifying figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper general ledger coding.
  • Assist with reviewing receipts for appropriate documentation and approval.
  • Support the research of discrepancies and gather supporting documentation as needed.
  • Retrieve files and payment information for audits, reviews, and accounting personnel.
  • Assist with preparation of documents and records for review, duplication, and distribution.
  • Respond to inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
    Assist with maintaining compliance with company policies, accounting procedures, and internal controls.
  • Regularly interact with accounting staff, clerical personnel, operations teams, and other internal or external stakeholders.
  • Adhere to company safety processes and protocols.

Skills and Experience

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 0–5 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures including word processing, file and record management, and general office procedures.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic and basic accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including spelling, grammar, and composition.
  • Ability to arrange information and perform tasks in a logical order according to established rules or procedures.
  • Strong computer proficiency including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability to operate 10-key calculators and other office equipment to perform calculations and produce documents.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • High level of interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Schedule: 20-30 hours a week 
2pm -6pm possibly 8 pm or 9 pm
