Overview
Position Summary
The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely loading, unloading, transporting, and organizing pallets within the warehouse or production yard. This role supports daily production operations by ensuring materials are delivered to the correct departments and finished pallets are staged or loaded for shipment.
This position requires operating a forklift in a fast-paced manufacturing or pallet recycling environment while maintaining strict safety standards and meeting production goals.
Skills and Experience
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate a forklift to move pallets throughout the warehouse, yard, or production areas.
- Load and unload pallets from trucks and trailers according to customer and shipping requirements.
- Stack, arrange, and organize pallets to maximize storage and maintain inventory flow.
- Supply production areas such as:
- pallet repair stations
- dismantling stations
- saw operators
- Remove finished pallets from production areas and move them to staging areas in the yard or warehouse.
- Assist with operational changes such as production changeovers.
- Move pallets from outdoor sorting areas to designated storage locations.
- Maintain pallet counts when loading or unloading trailers.
- Perform daily forklift inspections and basic maintenance checks.
- Follow all safety procedures and OSHA guidelines while operating equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals.
Qualifications / Skills
- Valid forklift certification or license
- 1–2 years forklift experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or industrial environment preferred
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Strong safety awareness and knowledge of forklift safety practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
- Good communication skills with supervisors and team members
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
