Sit-down Forklift Operator

Overview

Forklift Driver safely operates forklifts to move, stack, and load materials, ensuring timely, damage-free delivery of stock to machines and removal of finished goods. The role requires daily vehicle inspections, inventory tracking using scanners, and adhering to strict safety/housekeeping policies.


  • Operations: Operate forklifts to load/unload trucks, move materials, and supply production machines with necessary stock.
  • Safety & Maintenance: Conduct mandatory pre-shift inspections, report needed repairs, and follow OSHA safety standards, including using horns and watching for pedestrians.
  • Inventory Management: Accurately scan load tags, maintain accurate stock locations, and update inventory records.
  • Production Support: Support production schedules by efficiently removing finished goods and maintaining orderly storage areas.
  • Documentation: Complete required daily paperwork and reports promptly
Work Environment
  • Environment is typically loud and can be hot/humid.
  • Position requires high vigilance regarding safety, with potential exposure to moving mechanical parts. 

Skills and Experience

  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Certification: Must possess or be capable of obtaining a Pratt Forklift Certification and maintaining a current Lift Truck Operator License.
  • Skills: Ability to read a tape measure accurately and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Physical Demands: Regularly required to stand, walk, and lift/move up to 50 pounds (occasionally up to 100 pounds in some locations).
  • Environment: Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced setting with extreme temperatures, loud noise levels, and exposure to airborne particles or vibrations.
