Overview

Onin Staffing has a client seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quality Assurance Technician to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of production excellence, from raw materials to the finished product.

Reports to: Process Control Lead

Key Responsibilities

As a Quality Assurance Technician, you will perform critical inspections and drive continuous improvement within the fabrication and assembly process.

  • Product Inspections: Identify sub-standard completion in the following areas:

    • Welds on steel structures (in-process and post-blast).

    • Machined parts and vendor-supplied components.

    • Control systems and sub-components for proper configuration/operation.

    • Interior and exterior paint finishes on prime products.

  • Process Improvement: Assist in refining the incoming material inspection process to ensure quality at the source.

  • Problem Solving: Partner with Product Support to identify, solve, and prevent warranty-related issues.

  • Innovation: Introduce and implement new QC technologies to the shop floor.

  • Testing: Perform product testing, which may include the operation of heavy equipment.

  • Communication: Resolve quality issues directly with suppliers and internal departments.

  • Leadership: Lead and assist other inspection personnel as needed.

Skills and Experience

Requirements & Qualifications

We are looking for a professional who stays objective under pressure and maintains a high level of technical accuracy.

Education:

  • High School Diploma (required).

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (preferred).

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a dedicated quality role.

  • Technical Literacy: Ability to read blueprints and interpret complex drawing tolerances.

  • Precision Measurement: Proficient in using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools.

  • Software Proficiency: Experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe, and ERP systems.

  • Physical Ability: Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs and stand for extended periods.

  • Soft Skills: Strong communication, conflict resolution, and the ability to work effectively within cross-functional groups.

Preferred (Desired) Skills:

  • CWI (Certified Weld Inspector) certification.

  • Previous supervisory experience.

  • Knowledge of ISO implementation and compliance.

  • Hands-on experience with flux-core/MIG welding.

  • Familiarity with mining and construction equipment.
