Overview
The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of a variety of mechanical and HVAC systems. This position involves both planned and emergency service calls, requiring a combination of hands-on mechanical skills and technical knowledge to ensure systems are operating efficiently and safely.
Skills and Experience
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair mechanical and HVAC systems (e.g., chillers, boilers, air handlers, ductwork).
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems in various systems.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Repair or replace faulty components and parts according to manufacturer specifications and safety procedures.
- Conduct performance tests on systems to ensure they are operating correctly.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries, explaining issues, and recommending maintenance.
- Keep accurate records of work performed, maintenance activities, and inventory.
- Comply with all industry codes, safety regulations, and local codes.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in mechanical systems and HVAC installation and repair.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical systems, and wiring.
- Proficiency with diagnostic and testing tools.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems systematically.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Familiarity with safety procedures and regulations.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- High school diploma or GED; technical school certification or HVAC training preferred.
