Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and reliable Part-Time Security/Fire Watch Officer to join our team in Hillsville, Virginia. This position is vital to the safety and security of our manufacturing facility, requiring an individual who is responsible, observant, and dependable.
Schedule
- Every other weekend: Saturday and Sunday
- Hours: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM (12-hour shifts)
This role is perfect for someone looking for a steady, part-time schedule that allows for a great work-life balance. Due to the importance of this position, excellent attendance is non-negotiable.
Key Responsibilities
As a Security/Fire Watch Officer, you will be responsible for a range of critical duties, including:
Fire Watch Duties
- Conducting continuous patrols of the large facility to monitor for any signs of fire, smoke, or unusual alarms.
- Learning and understanding our fire system, including sprinklers, fire pumps, and alarms.
- Activating alarms and promptly notifying the fire department and Facility Management in case of an emergency.
- Logging each completed round in the designated log book.
- Communicating regularly with Plant Management throughout your shift.
Building Security Duties
- Ensuring all building doors are locked and secure.
- Controlling access to the facility and allowing guest entry only with management approval.
- Remaining on-site at all times during your assigned shift.
- Contacting management and law enforcement as needed to address any issues that arise.
Additional Responsibilities
- Performing light clean-up tasks, such as removing items to a dumpster.
- Assisting with general cleaning duties like sweeping, mopping, and taking out trash as needed.
Skills and Experience
- Must be physically able to walk the large facility for extended periods.
- Must be reliable and punctual with a strong commitment to attendance.
- Must be able to work independently and make sound decisions.
- Prior security or fire watch experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
- Candidates must be responsible for their own safety at all times.
