Overview
Ecommerce fulfillment associate is responsible for the timely and accurate processing, packing, and shipping of online customer orders. This is an entry-level, hands-on role that typically takes place in a warehouse or fulfillment center environment.
- Order processing: Print and review online order requests, picking tickets, or packing slips.
- Picking: Locate and retrieve specific products from warehouse shelves and storage areas based on order details.
- Packing: Securely and accurately package items in the appropriate boxes with dunnage (cushioning materials) to prevent damage during transit.
- Shipping: Generate and affix shipping labels, verify addresses, and organize packaged orders for pickup by delivery carriers like FedEx, UPS, or USPS.
- Receiving and organizing inventory: Unload and unpack incoming shipments from delivery trucks, inspect them for accuracy and damage, and store products in the correct warehouse locations.
- Inventory management: Update and track stock levels within the company's inventory management system.
- Warehouse maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Skills and Experience
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
- Experience: Previous experience in warehousing, order fulfillment, shipping and receiving, or a related role is often preferred.
- Attention to detail: A strong focus on accuracy to ensure customers receive the correct items and to prevent shipping errors.
- Organizational skills: The ability to manage multiple orders at once and maintain a systematic and tidy work area.
- Physical stamina: The capacity to perform manual tasks, including lifting and moving packages (up to 50 pounds or more), standing for extended periods, and moving around the warehouse.
- Time management: The ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently to meet daily order fulfillment deadlines.
- Basic computer skills: Familiarity with inventory management and shipping software.
- Communication: Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with team members.
