Overview
The Cutting Department Technician directs the activities of the Cutting Department
Assistant Technician in the make-ready, operation, and cleaning of the die-cutting
machine. The Cutting Department Technician is responsible for locating the correct job
jacket and verifying the presence of a signed customer sample for size, style, color, and
copy okay as well as the printed sheets for the job scheduled to cut. The Cutting
Department Technician is responsible for verifying that product manufactured on the
assigned shift is in compliance with customer specifications (job jacket).
Skills and Experience
1. Preferred – Industry-related Associate’s Degree or Vocational Education/Training
2. Required – A high school diploma or GED plus industry-related skills,
knowledge, and experience: (involves managing the activities of others to
accomplish company goals). This occupation requires at least a few months to
one year of working with experienced employees. This occupation requires
continuous exposure to moderate noise levels which might require hearing
protection. This occupation requires bending, pushing, lifting, and pulling, which
requires use of a back support. This occupation is exposed to paper dust, grease
and oil. This occupation requires a forklift certification. This occupation may
involve additional training/education to fulfill job responsibilities.
3. Possible – A recognized apprenticeship/co-op or internship program may be
associated with this occupation.
