Overview
The Ōnin Group is hiring an experienced Manufacturing Engineering Technician for a manufacturing company in Newton, NC. We're looking for a skilled, hands-on machinist who has experience manufacturing custom tooling, fixtures, gauges, and precision prototype components.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual and CNC milling machines, lathes, and precision surface grinders.
- Manufacture, modify, and repair custom tooling, fixtures, gauges, and prototype parts.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and support manufacturing process improvements.
- Perform precision measurements and quality inspections to ensure tight tolerances.
Skills and Experience
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in a toolroom, tool-and-die shop, or precision machine shop.
- Experience setting up and operating manual and CNC milling machines and lathes.
- Experience with precision surface grinding and tight-tolerance machining.
- Ability to independently manufacture custom tooling, fixtures, gauges, and prototype components.
- Experience interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
- Proficiency using precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.
Preferred Experience
- CNC programming, G-code/M-code, and CAD/CAM software.
- Prototype manufacturing, custom job-shop machining, or low-volume production.
- Automotive, aerospace, or industrial precision manufacturing.
- Experience troubleshooting machining processes and improving tooling performance.
Ideal Previous Job Titles: Toolroom Machinist, Prototype Machinist, Tool & Die Maker, Manual Machinist, Maintenance Machinist, or CNC Setup Machinist.
