Job Summary
We are currently hiring a Hospital Laundry Attendant for a busy healthcare environment. This position supports daily laundry and linen operations by handling, transporting, sorting, and distributing linens throughout the hospital.
Training will be conducted at VCU NOW before transitioning to the official work location at Stony Point.
The ideal candidate is punctual, dependable, respectful, and able to work independently. Strong attendance, professionalism, and the ability to stay focused and complete tasks without constant supervision are essential for success in this position.
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM–2:30 PM
Skills and Experience
Key Responsibilities
- Sort, handle, organize, and distribute hospital linens.
- Push, pull, and maneuver large linen carts throughout the hospital.
- Safely transport linens between designated areas and hospital departments.
- Navigate busy hospital hallways while remaining aware of patients, visitors, and staff.
- Follow hospital safety and sanitation procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with hospital staff.
- Work efficiently while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Follow instructions and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Work independently while also supporting the overall team.
- Assist with other laundry and linen duties as assigned.
Skills & Experience
Previous laundry, linen, hospital, warehouse, or similar experience is a plus.
Must be punctual, dependable, and reliable.
Excellent attendance is required.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Comfortable working in a busy, fast-paced healthcare environment.
Professional, respectful, and courteous communication skills.
Must provide excellent customer service to hospital staff.
Ability to follow directions, procedures, and safety guidelines.
Must be aware of your surroundings and mindful of hospital traffic.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Must be physically able to push, pull, and maneuver linen carts weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to remain on your feet and physically active throughout the shift.
