2ND SHIFT PRODUCTION MANAGER
Location: El Paso, Texas
Employment Type: Full-Time / Onin Staffing
Pay: Starting at per hour, depending on experience
Schedule:
- Monday–Thursday: 3:30 p.m.–12:30 a.m.
- Friday: 12:30 p.m.–6:30 p.m.
- Overtime and weekends as production requires
POSITION SUMMARY
Ōnin Staffing is seeking an experienced, hands-on Production Manager to lead second-shift operations for a local manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for employee supervision, production scheduling, workplace safety, product quality, equipment performance, labor efficiency, and the timely completion of customer orders.
The Production Manager will maintain a strong presence on the production floor and ensure an effective transition between first and second shifts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Direct second-shift manufacturing, production, packaging, and warehouse activities.
- Assign employees, equipment, and materials according to production priorities.
- Ensure production orders are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.
- Monitor production output, quality, downtime, waste, and labor performance.
- Supervise, train, coach, and evaluate production employees.
- Track attendance and address performance or conduct concerns.
- Conduct shift-start meetings and communicate daily production goals.
- Coordinate shift handoffs and review incomplete orders, equipment problems, and material shortages.
- Ensure employees follow OSHA requirements and company safety procedures.
- Correct unsafe conditions and work practices immediately.
- Oversee machine setup, operation, changeovers, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting.
- Coordinate equipment repairs with maintenance personnel.
- Verify finished products meet customer specifications and quality standards.
- Investigate defects, delays, downtime, and other production problems.
- Implement corrective actions when production or quality goals are not achieved.
- Monitor raw materials, work-in-process, packaging supplies, and finished goods.
- Maintain accurate production, quality, safety, downtime, and employee records.
- Control overtime, scrap, waste, and other manufacturing expenses.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready production area.
- Communicate shift results and unresolved concerns to senior management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Three or more years of manufacturing leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Five or more years of manufacturing or production experience preferred.
- Experience managing employees in a fast-paced production environment.
- Knowledge of production scheduling, quality control, inventory, and preventive maintenance.
- Strong understanding of OSHA requirements and manufacturing safety practices.
- Ability to troubleshoot production and equipment problems.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and production systems.
- Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.
- Must be available to work second shift, overtime, and weekends as needed.
