Food Process - Mixer Operator

Overview

The Mixer Operator is responsible for safely producing high-quality products while maintaining equipment, following standardized processes, and supporting continuous improvement. This role manages the mixing process from ingredient preparation through batch completion, ensuring reliable production flow to the Packaging team.

Skills and Experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and LOTO standards.

  • Inspect equipment and promptly report safety concerns or defects.

  • Follow GMP, HACCP, BRC, allergen, and cross-contamination requirements.

  • Complete and document required quality checks, including temperature, batter consistency, and batch verification.

  • Read and follow production schedules, recipes, and mixing instructions.

  • Scale and verify ingredients and add materials in the correct order and quantity.

  • Set mixer programs and complete equipment startup, shutdown, cleaning, and product changeovers.

  • Perform Clean, Inspect, Lubricate (CIL) tasks and maintain equipment centerlines and basic operating conditions.

  • Identify, document, and escalate equipment defects or production concerns.

  • Maintain a clean, organized work area in accordance with sanitation and 6S standards.

  • Complete ingredient logs, batch sheets, pre-start checklists, and SAP transactions accurately and on time.

  • Communicate production status and concerns to Team Leaders, TRIO, and Packaging.

  • Support continuous improvement efforts and assist with training other associates.

Training and Certification
Mixer Operator training includes:

  • Safety, GMP, and TPM fundamentals

  • Mixer setup and operation

  • Ingredient scaling and batching

  • SAP entries and production documentation

  • CIL and defect-handling procedures

Certification progression:

  • Aware: Understands the process

  • Sufficient: Performs with support

  • Proficient: Operates independently

  • Expert/SME: Trains and coaches others

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and recipes

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Basic math and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to operate or learn industrial mixing equipment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in food manufacturing or production

  • Familiarity with SAP or production documentation systems

  • Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and food-safety standards
