Overview
The Porter / Cleaning Associate is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and presentable shopping center environment. This is a hands-on cleaning position that requires someone who is dependable, physically active, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and remove trash from designated areas throughout the property.
- Empty trash cans and replace liners as needed.
- Transport trash and waste to designated disposal areas.
- Keep common areas, walkways, entrances, and other assigned areas clean and free of debris.
- Perform general cleaning duties as assigned.
- Sweep, mop, and clean floors and other surfaces.
- Clean and maintain restrooms and common-use areas as needed.
- Pick up litter and maintain the appearance of outdoor areas.
- Assist with cleaning spills and maintaining safe walking areas.
- Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or areas requiring additional attention.
- Properly use cleaning supplies, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Follow all cleaning, safety, and sanitation procedures.
- Maintain a professional and courteous attitude while working around customers, tenants, and other employees.
Schedule
- Shifts will vary based on business needs.
- Shifts may begin as early as 1:00 PM and run until 9:00 PM.
- Weekends are included, and candidates must be available to work weekends as scheduled.
- Flexibility with scheduling is required.
Skills and Experience
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive cleaning tasks.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move bags of trash and cleaning supplies.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to safely operate basic cleaning equipment.
- Ability to remain active throughout the workday.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be reliable, hardworking, and comfortable performing physical cleaning duties. Previous cleaning, janitorial, porter, housekeeping, or general labor experience is preferred but not required. The candidate should have good attendance, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
