Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Extrusion Maintenance Technician to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will keep our production lines running at peak performance by troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on complex plastics extrusion equipment, downstream automation, and facility utility systems.

What You’ll Do as an Extrusion Maintenance:
- Perform mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs on single/twin-screw extruders, die assemblies, vacuum tanks, haul-offs/pullers, chillers, cutters, winders, and material handling/conveying systems.
- Diagnose mechanical breakdowns and electrical issues (up to 480V, 3-phase), including PLCs, AC/DC drives, temperature controllers, heating zones, thermocouples, and sensor networks.
- Execute scheduled PM tasks on extrusion lines and auxiliary equipment to minimize unscheduled downtime and extend machine lifecycle.
- Work alongside process engineers and machine operators to identify equipment improvements, optimize line efficiency, and reduce scrap rates.
- Maintain a safe work area by strict adherence to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), arc flash safety, OSHA regulations, and company safety standards.
- Assist with die changes, screw pulls, barrel cleaning, and equipment re-configuration during product changeovers.
- Log maintenance activities, parts usage, and work orders accurately in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Skills and Experience
What You'll Bring as a Preferred Candidate:
- 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience specifically within a plastics manufacturing or extrusion environment (sheet, pipe, profile, film, or blow molding).
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills (reading schematics, 480V 3-phase power, control circuits, motors, and drives).
- Solid mechanical background (gearboxes, bearings, hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, and alignment).
- Familiarity with extrusion heating zones, thermocouples, pressure transducers, and melt pumps.
- High School Diploma or GED required. Technical degree, trade school certificate, or completed apprenticeship in Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or Electrical Mechanics strongly preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand/walk for extended periods, work in varying temperatures, and safely climb ladders/platforms.
- Strong problem-solving mindset, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
