We're looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Safety Assistant to help support and strengthen our safety program. In this hands-on role, you'll work alongside the Safety Manager to promote a safe work environment, ensure compliance with safety policies, conduct inspections and training, and help keep our manufacturing shop operating safely and efficiently.

This position is primarily based on the shop floor, making it ideal for someone who enjoys being active, interacting with employees, and taking initiative.

Skills and Experience

What You'll Do

  • Conduct daily safety walks and complete inspection reports and checklists.
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining the facility's safety program.
  • Lead new hire safety orientations and annual safety training.
  • Conduct equipment-specific safety training, including forklifts, aerial lifts, cranes, and other powered equipment.
  • Coordinate practical exams and certifications for equipment operators.
  • Maintain equipment inspection checklists and documentation.
  • Assist with weekly toolbox safety topics and employee safety communications.
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheet (SDS) files and other required safety records.
  • Help review and update safety policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate safety-related repairs with the Shop Superintendent and Maintenance Department.
  • Perform inspections of fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems, and other safety equipment.
  • Collect documentation from outside inspectors and assist with safety-related administrative tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to work independently while following established procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment.
  • Willingness to learn and grow within a safety-focused environment.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements

  • This is primarily a shop-floor position.
  • Expect to spend most of the workday walking, standing, and interacting with employees throughout the facility.
  • Some computer work is required for documentation and administrative tasks but is not the primary function of the position.
Schedule

This is a full-time position with a flexible schedule designed to support both shop shifts. Typical hours may include:

  • 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Schedules will be coordinated with the selected candidate. Overtime opportunities may be available.

Requirements

  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
