Overview
As a CNC Machinist you'll bring precision parts to life on 5-axis, vertical, and horizontal CNC mills, CNC lathes, and Swiss-type machines... work that ends up in military/defense systems, medical devices, and other high-stakes applications where there's no room for error. You'll spend your days translating prints and models into real, tight-tolerance components, often working on prototypes and short-run jobs where every setup is a little different and your problem-solving skills get put to the test.
- Set up and operate 5-axis, vertical, and horizontal CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, and Swiss-type screw machines.
- Write, edit, and optimize CNC programs using CAD/CAM software, with hands-on proficiency in GibbsCAM strongly preferred
- Select appropriate tooling, work-holding, fixturing, and cutting parameters
- Machine a wide range of materials, including but not limited to stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, Inconel, and engineering plastics.
- Troubleshoot and resolve machine, tooling, and program issues to minimize downtime and scrap.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and report equipment malfunctions to maintenance
Skills and Experience
- Machinist I: 1–3 years of CNC machining experience, or completion of a formal machining program/apprenticeship.
- Machinist II: 3–5 years of CNC machining experience, including setup and operation of 5-axis, vertical, and/or horizontal milling and CNC turning centers.
- Machinist III: 5+ years of CNC machining experience, including advanced 5-axis milling, multi-axis lathe turning, and Swiss-type machining.
- Proficiency reading blueprints and drawings
- Ability to perform setups, make offset adjustments, and troubleshoot programs with minimal supervision.
