Overview
Position Summary
The Finish Line Manager is responsible for overseeing all final production operations within the Finish Line Department, including assembly, touch-up, repair, quality inspection, packaging, and preparation for shipment. This position ensures that all products meet Design Mode Cabinetry's quality standards, production schedules, and customer requirements while maintaining a safe, efficient, and organized work environment.
The Finish Line Manager provides leadership, coaching, and accountability to Finish Line personnel and works closely with Production, Quality, Customer Service, Scheduling, and Shipping to ensure on-time order completion and customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Production & Workflow Management
- Manage all daily Finish Line operations to ensure production schedules are achieved.
- Review daily production requirements and establish departmental priorities.
- Monitor product flow through final assembly, repair, inspection, packaging, and shipping preparation.
- Ensure finished products meet quality, appearance, and packaging standards.
- Identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate with Production Supervisors and Scheduling to ensure timely completion of customer orders.
- Communicate production concerns, shortages, and delays to management promptly.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
Quality Management
- Ensure all cabinets meet established quality standards before shipment.
- Oversee final inspection processes.
- Manage touch-up, repair, and rework activities.
- Investigate recurring quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain documentation related to quality defects and resolutions.
- Partner with Quality and Production teams to reduce defects and customer complaints.
Employee Leadership & Development
- Supervise, coach, and develop Finish Line employees and supervisors.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback.
- Manage staffing levels, schedules, overtime, and vacation requests.
- Ensure employees receive proper training and cross-training.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and employee engagement.
- Foster a positive workplace culture focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Safety & Compliance
- Champion Design Mode Cabinetry's safety culture.
- Conduct routine safety meetings and toolbox talks.
- Ensure compliance with all OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses.
- Enforce proper PPE and safe work practices.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
Inventory & Material Control
- Monitor material usage and identify opportunities to reduce waste.
- Coordinate with Inventory and Supply Chain teams regarding shortages or material concerns.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of finished products.
- Maintain accurate departmental records and production metrics.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Track departmental KPIs and performance metrics.
- Prepare operational reports for management.
- Review labor utilization and productivity performance.
- Participate in management meetings and strategic planning initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Knowledge of cabinet manufacturing processes preferred.
- Strong understanding of quality systems and inspection procedures.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze production metrics and identify improvement opportunities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing software systems.
- Ability to train and develop employees effectively.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Education & Experience
Required
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience.
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory or management experience.
Preferred
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations Management, Manufacturing, or a related field.
- Cabinet, furniture, woodworking, or building products manufacturing experience.
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
