Overview
The Hole Man / Slitter Assistant is an entry-level production position that supports the Slitter Operator in processing large steel coils into smaller, finished strips. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build experience in a manufacturing environment and learn new skills while working as part of a team.
Job Duties Include:
- Assist the Slitter Operator with machine setup and daily production tasks
- Load and unload steel coils safely using proper procedures
- Help install and remove tooling, including separator discs and spacers
- Assist with preparing the machine for production runs
- Monitor the production line while material is being processed
- Measure slit widths using tape measures, calipers, and gauges
- Band, package, and label finished steel coils
- Perform quality checks to ensure products meet specifications
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow all safety guidelines when working around heavy equipment and moving materials
Skills and Experience
Skills & Qualifications:
- Manufacturing or production experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidate
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to read a tape measure
- Comfortable working around heavy equipment and machinery
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly
- Strong attendance and reliability
- Good teamwork and communication skills
- Willingness to learn and grow into a Slitter Operator role
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for 10–12 hour shifts
- Frequent bending, stooping, and climbing
- Ability to perform heavy lifting throughout the shift
- Comfortable working in an industrial environment with changing temperatures
- Must wear steel-toe boots and required PPE
