Overview
The Bilingual Warehouse Operator is responsible for supporting daily warehouse and fabrication operations in a reinforcing steel (rebar) facility. This position assists with receiving, storing, cutting, bending, staging, loading, and shipping rebar products while maintaining a safe and organized work environment. The ideal candidate is fluent in both English and Spanish and can effectively communicate with production staff, drivers, supervisors, and customers to ensure efficient operations and workplace safety.
Skills and Experience
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, unload, and organize incoming shipments of reinforcing steel (rebar) and related materials.
- Operate rebar fabrication equipment, including cutting and bending machines, according to production specifications.
- Read work orders, production schedules, and material lists to prepare steel products accurately.
- Stage, bundle, tag, and prepare fabricated rebar for customer delivery or pickup.
- Load and unload trucks using forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material-handling equipment, following all safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with material tracking.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment and report maintenance or safety concerns.
- Keep warehouse, fabrication, and storage areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Communicate effectively in both English and Spanish with warehouse personnel, production teams, drivers, and supervisors.
- Assist with translating work instructions, safety procedures, and operational communications when needed.
- Follow all company policies, OSHA regulations, and workplace safety standards.
- Perform other warehouse and production duties as assigned.
- Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.
- Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments with varying temperatures and weather conditions.
- Ability to safely handle heavy steel materials and operate industrial equipment while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Work Environment
- Industrial warehouse and steel fabrication facility.
- Frequent exposure to heavy equipment, moving machinery, and steel products.
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including steel-toe boots, hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and high-visibility clothing.
- Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required to meet production and customer delivery schedules.
