Overview

The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the community college campus. This position supports students, faculty, staff, and visitors by ensuring classrooms, offices, restrooms, common areas, and other facilities are properly cleaned and maintained.

Essential Job Duties:

  •  Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, break rooms, and common areas. 
  •  Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors. 
  •  Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste properly. 
  •  Dust and wipe down desks, tables, chairs, windowsills, and other surfaces. 
  •  Clean and disinfect restrooms, including sinks, toilets, mirrors, and fixtures. 
  •  Replenish restroom and facility supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper. 
  •  Move and rearrange furniture, desks, tables, and other equipment as needed to thoroughly clean designated areas. 
  •  Assist with room setups and breakdowns for meetings, events, and special campus activities. 
  •  Clean windows, doors, and glass surfaces. 
  •  Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or needed repairs to supervisors. 
  •  Follow all safety procedures and properly use cleaning chemicals and equipment. 
  •  Maintain storage areas and ensure cleaning supplies are stocked and organized.

Skills and Experience

  • Previous housekeeping, janitorial, or custodial experience preferred.
  •  Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, and pulling. 
  •  Ability to move furniture, desks, and equipment to access and clean hard-to-reach areas. 
  •  Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently. 
  •  Reliable attendance and punctuality. 
  •  Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. 
Work Environment:

  •  Indoor and outdoor work may be required. 
  •  Frequent standing, walking, lifting, and repetitive movements. 
  •  May work around cleaning chemicals, dust, and varying temperatures.
