Grinder Operator – Weekend Shift

Overview

What You'll Do

  • Operate grinding equipment to remove excess material and prepare steel components to customer specifications.
  • Grind, smooth, and finish metal surfaces to meet quality requirements.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and production specifications.
  • Measure and inspect finished products using calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and other precision measuring tools.
  • Perform visual inspections to identify defects and ensure product quality.
  • Move materials using overhead cranes, forklifts, or other material-handling equipment when needed.
  • Maintain production records and complete quality documentation.
  • Assist with machine setup, grinding wheel changes, and basic equipment maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and other shifts regarding production status.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements.

Skills and Experience

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1–3 years of manufacturing, fabrication, grinding, machine operation, or related production experience preferred.
  • Previous grinder, fabrication, metal finishing, welding, or machine operator experience is highly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds with or without assistance.
  • Ability to stand, bend, twist, and work in a physically demanding environment throughout the shift.
  • Comfortable working around industrial equipment, metal materials, dust, and noise.
  • Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
