What You'll Do as a CDL- A/B Driver:
- Transport containers to and from destinations
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trucks and trailers.
- Review paperwork to ensure drop-off and pick-up are at the correct terminal or port.
- Safely deliver loaded containers to our CLT warehouse.
- Occasionally transfer material to our LEX location, 3 nights.
- Transport empty containers to off-site locations.
- During slower container periods, assist the CLT warehouse with flatbed transfers.
- Research and plan for traffic, construction and weather delays
- Use navigation applications to determine the best route
- Interact with clients and always team members professionally.
- Ensure that the vehicle is always fueled and ready for use
- Arrange for vehicle repairs as needed.
- Keep mileage records and repair records up to date
- Follow all FMCSA and DOT regulations
Skills and Experience
What You'll Bring as a Preferred Candidate:
- Education: High School Diploma/GEDExperience
- 3+ years CDL driving experience
- 1+ customer service experience
- Clean driving history
- Bilingual is a plus but not required
- Valid Commercial Class A Driver’s License
- Valid TWIC Card is a plus but not required
- Valid DOT Medical Card
- Ability to work Saturdays
- Ability to work Holiday and night hours
- Ability to follow written procedures and verbal/non-verbal instructions.
- Ability to use electronics equipment and software; like tablets for inspection reports.
- Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven, multi-priority environment; exhibit consistent usage of effective time management skills; communicate interference and delays to supervisor.
- Provides others with timely and organized information
- Provides accurate results that are thought-out, complete.
- Ability to effectively manage change and unexpected situations
- No recent driving violations
- Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
- Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
