Custodian

Overview

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, and/or polish floors (including hallways, offices, classrooms, restrooms, etc.).
• Dust and wipe furniture, fixtures, walls, windows, glass surfaces and other building components.
• Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste in appropriate receptacles; replace liners.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms: replenish supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet tissue), clean toilets, sinks, mirrors, partitions.
• Perform periodic floor care: stripping, waxing, buffing (if required).
• Clean windows, light fixtures, and carpets as needed.
• Inspect buildings for cleanliness and report maintenance issues, vandalism, or needed repairs.
• Maintain inventory of custodial supplies and equipment; request replacements or repairs.
• Follow proper use and storage of cleaning chemicals, tools, and equipment; adhere to safety protocols.
• Lock/unlock doors, secure building after hours if required (depending on shift).
• Assist in setup/breakdown of rooms for events or special functions as needed.
• May perform minor building or custodial equipment maintenance/repairs or coordinate with building maintenance staff.
