Summary

The Rebar Fabricator is responsible for cutting, bending, and assembling reinforcing steel (rebar) used in concrete construction projects such as foundations, walls, bridges, and structural supports. This hands-on position requires attention to detail, the ability to read blueprints, and safe operation of fabrication equipment. The role supports production by preparing rebar to precise specifications so it can be delivered to construction sites ready for installation.

Responsibilities

  • Cut, bend, and shape steel reinforcing bars (rebar) according to blueprints, work orders, and project specifications.
  • Measure and mark rebar to ensure accurate cuts and bends that meet engineering and structural requirements.
  • Operate fabrication equipment such as rebar cutters, benders, shears, and welding tools safely and efficiently.
  • Assemble and tie rebar components or cages used in concrete reinforcement.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, bar lists, and fabrication schedules to determine proper materials and dimensions.
  • Inspect finished rebar pieces to ensure they meet quality standards and required measurements.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and organizing fabricated materials for shipment or storage.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment within the fabrication shop.
  • Follow all workplace safety guidelines and proper handling procedures when working with heavy steel materials and equipment.
  • Work efficiently with team members to meet daily production goals and project deadlines.

Skills and Experience

Requirements

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English required.
  • Previous experience in rebar fabrication, steel fabrication, or construction preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, or fabrication diagrams.
  • Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment that may involve lifting, standing, and repetitive tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining quality standards.
  • Must be punctual, dependable, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
Work Environment

Work is performed primarily in a fabrication shop or industrial setting where employees handle steel materials and operate mechanical equipment. The position may involve exposure to noise, dust, and heavy materials. Proper safety equipment and procedures must be followed at all times.
