Overview
Position Summary
The Paint / Stain Technician is responsible for applying stain, paint, and protective finishes to cabinets, doors, trim, and other millwork products. This role ensures products meet quality standards for color consistency, finish appearance, and durability before shipment to customers or job sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply paint, stain, sealers, and protective coatings to cabinets, doors, trim, and millwork components.
- Must know how to use a paint gun and operate spray equipment safely and effectively.
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and masking materials prior to finishing.
- Operate spray guns, paint booths, and finishing equipment to complete finishing tasks.
- Ensure consistent color matching and finish quality across production batches.
- Inspect finished products for defects, runs, or inconsistencies and correct as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness of paint booths, equipment, and work areas.
- Follow all safety procedures when handling paints, stains, and finishing chemicals.
- Work from production orders or finishing schedules to complete work accurately and on time.
- Assist with moving materials and staging finished products as needed.
- Work closely with the production team to meet daily output and quality standards.
Skills and Experience
Qualifications
- Previous experience in painting, staining, or finishing wood products preferred.
- Experience using a paint spray gun is required.
- Ability to follow written instructions and production schedules.
- Strong attention to detail and finish quality.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Reliable attendance and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
