Onin Staffing is currently recruiting for Welding Technicians for a great opportunity in Clayton, NC! If you have strong welding experience and enjoy working as part of a team building structural assemblies, we want to hear from you.
- Schedule: Monday–Friday | 6 AM – 4:45 PM
- Pay: $17–$22/hour (based on experience)
As a Welding Technician, you will use MIG, TIG, and Arc welding equipment to fabricate structural steel components for modular base frames and enclosure products. You’ll also use oxy-acetylene torches and plasma arc equipment to cut steel and assemble structural parts according to blueprints while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform MIG, TIG, and Arc welding on steel and aluminum
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and assembly instructions
- Use oxy-acetylene cutting equipment and plasma arc tools
- Operate metalworking equipment such as press brakes, drill presses, and shears
- Inspect work to ensure it meets specifications and quality standards
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Accurately complete time reporting sheets
- Work as part of a team to complete structural assemblies
Skills and Experience
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of welding experience (MIG, TIG, Arc)
- 3 years of blueprint reading experience
- Experience with oxy-acetylene cutting equipment
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs consistently
- Ability to work 10-hour shifts and occasional weekends
- Valid Driver’s License
- Must pass welding test, background check, and drug screen
What to Bring for the Weld Test
- Steel toe boots
- Welding helmet
- Welding jacket
- Gloves
- Basic welding tools (chipping hammer, etc.)
(Safety glasses will be provided if needed.)
Preferred Experience
- 3–5 years structural steel welding
- AWS D1.1 qualification
- Experience with plasma arc cutting, framing, or laser measuring
- Familiarity with weld testing methods (dye penetrant)
- Experience using shears, brakes, and other metalworking equipment
