Overview

The Web Press Machine Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining printing, and web press machines to ensure efficient production of high-quality printed materials. This role requires strong technical knowledge of web press systems, an eye for detail, and the ability to troubleshoot mechanical and quality issues to maintain smooth press operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate Web Press and related web printing presses in accordance with production specifications.
  • Adjust machine settings, ink flows, tension, and registration to ensure accurate and consistent print quality.
  • Perform machine start-up, calibration, and shutdown procedures safely and efficiently. Monitor production runs for color consistency, registration accuracy, and print quality. Conduct regular maintenance, including cleaning and lubrication of machine parts, to minimize downtime. 
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, or process issues on presses and web systems. 
  • Collaborate with the prepress, quality control, and finishing teams to meet production deadlines and standards. 
  • Record production data such as materials used, output, downtime, and maintenance activities.
  • Follow all safety and company protocols related to printing operations and material handling.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience: Minimum 2–3 years operating Web Press machines or other web press systems in a printing environment.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of web offset or flexographic printing processes, ink systems, and print registration.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to identify and resolve machine performance issues quickly.
  • Attention to Detail: Commitment to producing high-quality finished products with minimal waste.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, occasionally lift up to 50 lbs, and operate in a production environment.
  • Communication Skills: Clear verbal and written communication to coordinate with team members and supervisors.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification or vocational training in Printing Technology or a related field.
  • Experience with digital or flexographic printing systems.
  • Familiarity with color calibration and quality inspection tools.
