Overview
We have a 6-month project located in Plymouth, MN starting in March that we are currently recruiting for. This is a Fabrication position with the potential to extend beyond six months, depending on project needs and performance. We will be hiring for both 1st shift and 2nd shift openings.
Summary: Responsible for operating a variety of pre-fabrication equipment including press brake, punch press, shear saw, pipe beveller, tube bender, and burning equipment to fabricate parts and components used to manufacture boiler products.
Skills and Experience
Core Fabrication Equipment Skills
• Press brake setup and operation
• Punch press operation
• Shear saw / metal shear operation
• Pipe beveler operation
• Tube bender operation
• Burning equipment (oxy-fuel / plasma cutting)
• Basic machine setup and changeovers
Blueprint & Layout Skills
• Strong blueprint reading
• Understanding fabrication drawings
• Ability to interpret dimensions and tolerances
• Layout and part measurement from prints
• Basic weld symbol knowledge (helpful but not mandatory)
Measuring & Inspection Tools
• Tape measure (accurate to 1/16" or better)
• Calipers and micrometers
• Squares and angle finders
• Ability to verify part dimensions before release
Material Knowledge
• Carbon steel fabrication
• Basic understanding of plate thickness and metal types
• Experience cutting, bending, and forming steel components
Shop & Safety Skills
• Overhead crane operation
• Forklift operation
• Safe use of hand and power tools
• Housekeeping and material tracking
• Recording material usage accurately
Nice-to-Have (but not always required)
• Experience in boiler or pressure vessel manufacturing
• Knowledge of ASME fabrication environments
• Lean manufacturing exposure
