Overview
Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Ophthalmology/Optometry Technician to support our providers in delivering high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will have prior clinic experience, strong patient interaction skills, and a solid understanding of ophthalmic testing and workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform pre-testing procedures including visual acuity, auto-refraction, tonometry, and other diagnostic tests as assigned
- Obtain and accurately document patient medical history
- Identify and record the patient’s chief complaint and reason for visit
- Prepare patients for examination and assist providers during exams and minor procedures
- Educate patients on testing procedures, treatments, and follow-up instructions as directed
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Ensure exam rooms and equipment are cleaned, stocked, and functioning properly
- Comply with all clinic policies, safety standards, and HIPAA regulations
Skills and Experience
Qualifications:
- Prior ophthalmology or optometry clinic experience preferred
- Knowledge of ophthalmic terminology and testing procedures
- Ability to obtain accurate patient histories and chief complaints
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Certification (COA, COT, or COMT) a plus but not required, depending on clinic needs
Work Environment:
- Clinical setting with direct patient interaction
- Requires standing, walking, and assisting patients throughout the day
Schedule & Compensation:
- Schedule: 8am-6pm Monday-Saturday
- $17 an hour
